Afternoon in the Creek

We enjoyed an incredibly beautiful late afternoon kayaking on Hobcaw Creek today. Paddling our way through the tall sea grasses, happy to make our way to the open river just in time for a breathtaking Charleston sunset. We were surrounded by familiar landmarks and light from homes lining the creek as the sky went dark-we also had lights on our bows. It only made us think of the beautiful Courtenay Map produced in 1883, when there were no landmarks or lights from homes to see the mapmakers safely back to shore. When you wear this Courtenay map scarf, you're truly wearing a piece of Charleston history.
